IRENE

On 16th September 2000 Irene tragically lost her long battle with cancer, at home with the family that meant so much to her.  She was more than a wife and a mother, and the loss is not only being felt by those closest to her but also by an extended family of friends around the UK.

The BWFT was the creation of all the Lamport family but it was Irene who was the soul of the Centre, and its success over the years was largely due to her charisma, homely warmth and sense of humour, qualities that epitomised the friendly informality that is an important part of the fundamental philosophy of the Trust.  Her cooking for up to 40 guests at a time has become legendary.

On the farm, before the Centre opened for a new season, it was her role to look after the lambs that had been rejected by their mothers, and three or four times a day she would walk to the sheep building armed with a gallon or two of freshly prepared milk to be surrounded by her adopted babies.

Irene can never be replaced, but Terry and the rest of the family are now dedicated to making sure that the philosophy, aims and objectives of the Trust are continued and pursued.

There can be no greater recognition and appreciation of Irene's part in the BWFT story than to bring plans to successful fruition, so that thousands more children and adults from all parts of the UK can benefit from the magic and natural therapy of Blaen Wern in the years to come.
