Blaen Wern is a working Farm raising quality Sheep and Cattle. The beautiful environment and stunning animals allow us to provide a non-clinical means of promoting a positive mental and emotional state in sick and disabled children by informally introducing them to the joys of the countryside and of the animal world.
The farm is home to a number of Horses and Ponies which graze on the 30 or so acres around the Centre building and are very popular with the children, especially the Shetlands whose quiet and friendly temperament gives them an important therapeutic value
The Red Kite
This magnificent and graceful bird of prey is unmistakable with its reddish-brown body, angled wings and deeply forked tail.
It was saved from national extinction by one of the world’s longest running protection programmes and has now been successfully re-introduced to England and Scotland but it was only in the old Oak-woods of mid-Wales where it ultimately stood against the persecution of man.
At Blaen Wern we are fortunate to be able to see these beautiful and truly awesome birds on an almost daily basis.
